About Arab-American Family Support Center
The Arab-American Family Support Center (AAFSC) is a non-profit organization based in Brooklyn, NY, providing comprehensive, culturally competent social services to immigrant and refugee families. Since 1994, AAFSC has delivered linguistically accessible, trauma-informed support across multiple service areas designed to strengthen families at every stage of their immigration journey. The organization serves the Brooklyn community and beyond through integrated programs spanning four key priority areas: Prevent Harm, Get Ready, Promote Well-Being, and Communicate.
AASFC's service portfolio includes mental health counseling, English language instruction and citizenship preparation, legal services, youth programs, domestic violence support, and community health initiatives. With staff fluent in over 30 languages, the organization ensures that language barriers never prevent families from accessing critical resources. In 2024 alone, AAFSC supported 21,000 community members, providing 2,838 mental health counseling sessions, serving 4,533 survivors of domestic and gender-based violence, and offering English literacy instruction to 1,021 students.
While welcoming all who seek assistance, AAFSC has developed specialized expertise serving Arab, Middle Eastern, North African, Muslim, and South Asian (AMEMSA) immigrant and refugee communities. The organization's integrated approach means families accessing one service—such as English classes—simultaneously benefit from complementary support including youth programming, legal assistance, and mental health counseling. As an anti-racist organization committed to equity and inclusion, AAFSC actively works to dismantle systemic barriers and advocates for underserved communities throughout Brooklyn and New York.
